Make the most of your visit in about an hour: grab a free timed-entry ticket to the Church, stroll through Alamo Plaza and the historic Grounds, and chat with the knowledgeable staff.
For History Buffs
That last 10% is worth it—opt for a guided tour, the Phil Collins Collection, AR experience, and videos. It's a UNESCO site for a reason!

The Alamo Experience Overview
There are four main sections:
- Alamo Plaza (Green): Free, no ticket needed. Includes Mission Gate, Cannon Displays, Photo Ops, and Musket Demonstrations (11:30 a.m. daily).
- Alamo Grounds (Orange): Free, no ticket needed. Features Barracks, Spanish Hospital, Demonstrations, The Well, and Gift Shop.
- Alamo Church (Red): Free, but requires a timed ticket. Attractions include The Sacristy and Heroes plaques. May close in 2026 for roof repairs.
- Ralston Center (Purple): Paid museum ($14) showcasing historical artifacts.
Additional Notes:
- Food & Drinks – Allowed in Plaza & Grounds, but not in the Church.
- Animals – Service animals only.

Parking & Riverwalk Access

Finding parking near the Alamo and Riverwalk can be challenging. Here are some options to help you plan your visit:
- Long Trips: Fourth Street Pay Station (400 Fourth St) – 30 cents/hr, 10-hr max. (0.2 miles from Alamo)
- Short Trips (<2 hrs): Metered Parking (205 Avenue E, Alamo, Broadway, Jefferson, E. Commerce) – $1.80/hr, 2-hr max. Free after 6 PM & Sundays.
- Other Good Options:
- Houston Garage – $10/day (10-min walk).
- Rivercenter Garage – $5/hr (A/C path).
- Elm St. Lot – $5 for 2 hrs.
- Free street parking ~¾ mile south of Alamo/Riverwalk on Presa/Martinez.
